Two Things Feng Shui is NOT!

First, Feng Shui cannot, must not, and should not be understood as some kind of “magic.”
As a Feng Shui consultant, I meet with a lot of people who are on different life paths. Some are transitioning between changes smoothly. Others are coping with difficulties. In both cases, it is my professional responsibility to carefully navigate the implementation of the Feng Shui practice… and that includes making sure they understand it is not a cure-all for life’s messy challenges.
Feng Shui can help you take control of your life, achieve balance, make positive changes, and achieve your goals and dreams, but it won’t do any of that for you. When we explore the concept of the Cosmic Trinity in Chapter 5, you will see that you and your actions play an equal and vital role in influencing your life.
So it is with extreme care that I caution both my readers and clients to purge the impression that Feng Shui will erase all your problems or turn you into a millionaire overnight!
Second, Feng Shui is not a one-time event. It’s not a permanent fix that you can apply and then forget about.
Change is the only thing that is constant in life (we’ll explore this concept in Chapter 9). Because time passes, the energy cycles also shift. People change too. Your goals and relationships will change, your health and work dynamic will change, and your needs and dreams will also change. This is a normal progression as you experience the ups and downs of your life’s path. Moreover, your environment will change. Your job may relocate you to a new town, or you may decide to move elsewhere to raise a family. You may consider moving into a different space or renovating your existing space.
Life is never static, and as such, the application of Feng Shui must be revisited to accurately assess the Qi in your environment and adjust your surroundings to align with your current and future endeavors.
