May 2021 Yin Water Snake Feng Shui & BaZi Update

“The summer night is a perfection of thought.” – Wallace Stevens

May marks the beginning of the summer season – Fire Element – where all the summer feels delight our senses! It’s a magnanimous time, really, especially since the heart and blood belong to the Fire. This is the time for joyful renditions and let excitement and celebration be the key themes for this season.

But Fire is a fickle thing. It is steady and stable and warming one minute, and it can quickly turn into a wild, uncontrollable fire explosion in the next. Its capricious nature has a tendency to brighten the day and turn moody dark as well. Ah, but it’s how creativity flows. Like water, the Snake month (also a Yin Fire Element) will swing us every which way like a pendulum. Our need for stability and consistency will be challenged, yet, the beauty of the “happy” season can also keep the optimistic and hopeful light burning.

Tell me, how do you wish to make the most of this new season?

 Meaning of the Elements

~ The Elements this month is Yin Water Snake 癸巳 ~

The Snake (May 5 to June 5) is a Yin Fire Element, which means we have transitioned out of the Wood (spring) season. Since Fire represents height and elevation, you might notice a rise in momentum.

The Heavenly Stem is Yin Water, like a drop of water or morning dew. A tiny drop may seem so insignificant in the grand scheme of things, but as a collective whole, the ocean is made up of tiny drops of water.

Because the Elements this month are in a controlling cycle (Water conquers Fire), the Fire sign might seem a bit unstable. In other words, what you see may not be what it truly is. Be mindful of impulsive decisions and temper down irrational behaviors and thoughts. I know, sometimes it’s easier said than done. But the influence of the Water in the month and the Ox in the year are still very much the “cooling agents.” So, this Snake sign is not as robust and steady.

Take care of the physical eyes, especially if you are always staring at the computer. Use blue light cancelling glasses or periodically apply rewetting eye drops to keep the eyes moist.

Take care of the vision, particularly around your thoughts and big-dream ideas. Do not be so quick to act on a thought or a feeling. Let your vision of a new project or about the future marinate with time. Give yourself permission to work out the details without the pressure of rushing, needing to produce, or executing the vision right away. Be patient and be diligent.

Take care of the blood. This concept applies to your blood circulation and veins (through physical movement), your reproductive system (particularly if you are a woman who still bleeds), and your immune system such as the thyroid (because Fire supports Earth or the core vitality of the body). Be extra loving to yourself if you experience any imbalances related to blood stagnation or blood problems. Use this month to take extra care in up-leveling the qi circulation throughout the body.

For example, if you sit a lot, consider walking or doing more rigorous cardiovascular exercises. If you stand a lot, consider lying down and raising both legs against a wall to bring the blood back to the heart. If you tend to eat too much “cold foods” such as salads and fish, consider incorporating some fire herbs such as ginger, turmeric, garlic, cinnamon. If you eat too much “hot foods” such as meats and carbs, consider adding some cooling foods such as raw or uncooked veggies, leafy greens, and bitter herbs like dandelion and chicory.

Take care of the heart qi. Elevate your personal vibrational frequency by keeping joy in the center of everything that you do. Take an honest inventory of your emotions as of late and assess whether you have been worried, anxious, nervous, irritated, moody, and angry. If so, it’s time to grow from these emotions so you can start experiencing the energy that is lighter, friendlier, sweeter, and more easeful. I often like to say, “What is it going to take to get the ‘pep in your step again’?” Stop worrying and feeling sorry for yourself! Act now.

May is your Nobleman month if:

  • You were born in years ending 2 and 3 (i.e., 1962, 1973, 1982, 1993, etc.)
  • You were born in a Yin Water or Yang Water year.
  • Your BaZi Day Master is Yin Water or Yang Water.

It’s time to get some help with the support of the Nobleman. Reach out and lean on others to help you and your projects move along, especially if last month felt stagnant or slow. The Snake can spice things up so it’s a good time to regroup and ask for help.

May is your Clash month if:

  • You were born in the Year of the Pig (1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007, 2019).
  • You were born in the Month of the November (Nov. 7/8 to Dec. 7/8).
  • You were born on the Day of Pig (you need a Chinese calendar to figure this out). But this one is harder to derive because you need a Chinese calendar. You may email me to get yours if you don’t already have one.
  • You were born in the Hour of the Pig (2100-2300 hours local time).

It’s time to shake things up! Take bold actions to make change work for you is the apex this month. Do not procrastinate or second-guess yourself. Leverage the energy of the clash and make use of it. Also, carry a jade pendant of the Monkey and take care of the Feng Shui of your home (see section below).

May is your Penalty Month if:

You have both the Tiger and Monkey signs anywhere in your Four Pillars,

If you do have this Snake + Tiger + Monkey combination, this creates an energy called Fire Penalty. Depending on where they sit in your chart and what the Fire Element means to you, they will have varying degrees of impact and weight. Nonetheless, here are a few suggestions to minimize any distress that may occur from the Fire Penalty:

  • Carry a jade pendant of the Monkey during the month for additional protection.
  • Take care of health, particularly if you have vulnerable areas related to the heart, including blood circulation, the thyroid, joint pains, and arthritis.
  • Strengthen the lower part of the body (hips down) because the Fire Penalty string is made up of the “land animal” signs and can cause injury to the legs, knees, ankles, and feet.
  • Take care of the Feng Shui of your house (see section below).

Flying Star Feng Shui 玄空風水

Month Star 2 takes center stage. Take care of the Feng Shui of the month as follows:

  • Center (6,2) = Sickness is taking center stage this month. Be super mindful that we are technically still in the middle of a pandemic. Because the Star of Sickness is in the center region of our house, this kind of disruption can cause problems in the stomach, lungs, and head. They can manifest as stomach ache, digestive issues, blood sugar imbalances, upper respiratory ailments, migraines, headaches, and insomnia. Place one set of 6 metal coins to suppress this energy right away! Also, we’ll be on the lookout on what’s going on with China because China is generally placed in the Center palace for Flying Star purposes. This also means there could be some earth-related problems such as earthquakes, avalanches, mudslides, sink holes, and volcanic activities. Finally, 6,2 can also provoke legal trouble. Isn’t this tax month in America?!
  • North (2,7) = Worries, miscommunication, misunderstandings, and conflicts can permeate this month. Use 3 bamboo stems in a clear glass vase to help neutralize Star 7 this month.
  • Southeast (5,1) = Do not activate Star 1 this month! Therefore, leave Star 1 as-is.
  • Northwest (7,3) = The 7,4 combination is responsible for relationship scandal, including affairs, disloyalty, slander, gossip, and other matters that can disrupt one’s fame, reputation, and rapport.
  • South (1,6) = The Month Star 7 will not be as problematic because Annual Star 1 will help subdue its strength. However, to be safe, place 3 bamboo stems in a clear glass vase.
  • Northeast (9,5) = Yikes! This 9,5 combination is the culprit to big-time problems. For those who have taken a course from me understand that this combo is inauspicious and even dangerous. If this is an important room in your space, make sure you put one set of 6 metal coins, or 6 metal rod wind chime (if this is outdoors), or salt cure, or a metal wu luo. Note: If you are a practicing student or seasoned practitioner, you have to also avoid and cure days when the Day Stars form 9,5,5 or 9,5,2 combinations. They form when the Center Star is 2 or 8. Make sure you double check this using your almanac.

On the Plus Side:

  • West (8,3) = Month Star 3 will stimulate Annual Star 8 this month. No need to activate or cure especially if you are unsure about the base stars of your home or office.
  • Southwest (3,8) = Same as above.
