OVERVIEW:

Based in Arizona, Feng Shui by Jen® is a professional Classical Feng Shui consultancy firm. Feng Shui by Jen® also operates an educational program on behalf of the Raymond Lo School of Feng Shui & Destiny (Hong Kong). The U.S.-based school offers workshops and formal training programs in Classical Feng Shui, BaZi-Four Pillars of Destiny, I Ching Divination, and other relevant topics in Chinese Metaphysics, including but not limited to, Chinese Five Elements, BaZi and Health, Face Reading, and Flying Star Feng Shui.

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

Looking for an energetic person to be an event organizer for IFSA Accredited Feng Shui Master and owner of Feng Shui by Jen®, Jen Stone.

This position requires the person to extensively market all pertinent events for Feng Shui by Jen® by promoting, soliciting, enrolling, and filling the classes with student participants who wish to learn Classical Feng Shui, BaZi Four Pillars of Destiny, I Ching Divination, or other related courses and workshops.

Event Organizer responsibilities include providing outstanding customer service and organizing memorable events that meet quality expectations. The successful candidate will also be charged with discovering new opportunities within the community to establish a stronger bond with target audience and increase local market interest.

Some knowledge around the subject matter is necessary but not required. Some training on the subject matters will be provided as the Owner sees fit.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Promote and market assigned class events.
  • Negotiate and secure venue space for the event, including classroom equipment and general liability insurance.
  • Recruit and enroll students to the event and manage correspondence.
  • Liaise with students with class enrollment/registration, tuition bill, and travel arrangements as needed.
  • Must be able to execute assigned projects within the time and budget parameters.
  • Provide a full accounting of the event’s income and expense.
  • Work with students and vendor partners to identify their needs and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Organize and coordinate facility details including registration, facility décor, catering, transportation, venue, location, equipment, consultation services, social activities, and ensuring the event runs smoothly.
  • Proactively handle any arising issues and troubleshoot any emerging problems on the event day(s).
  • Research market, identify event opportunities, and generate interest.
  • For the Feng Shui Class, Event Organizer must solicit two voluntary Feng Shui “clients” to facilitate the offsite exercises (preferably 1 residential and 1 commercial).
  • Collect student payments and ensure proper accounting of all monetary funds.
  • Responsible for disbursing funds to related vendors and settle account with Owner on the last day of the Event.

QUALIFICATIONS

 Education

  • At least a high school diploma.

Experience

  • Some event organizing experience is required.

KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Computer skills and competencies around social media marketing.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills.
  • Detail orientated, organized, and have the ability to multitask.
  • Must be able to sell and promote events to fill classrooms.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Some heavy lifting of up to 20-30 pounds may be necessary, including but not limited to, boxes (inventory of books and products), visual and audio equipment, and other classroom items such as desks and chairs.

REQUIREMENTS:

The Event Organizer must reside in the city where the event will be held.

COMPENSATION:

This is solely a commission-based work.

Event Organizer will receive 30% of the total Net Profit (taken into consideration after all costs associated with the venue, travel, accommodation for the Owner, insurance and licenses, marketing fees, and other fees associated with the organization of the event).

Event Organizer will receive $50 per BaZi consultation set-up.

Event Organizer will receive 10% of the total fee for all Feng Shui consultation set-up.

WORKING HOURS:

Working hours are entirely dependent upon the type of events. The week leading up to the event may require you to work long and unsociable hours.

Frequent travel between your office or home and the location where event is going to be held is a regular requirement.

Event Organizer is also required to be present during the event at all times, and usually must arrive prior to the start of the class.

FREQUENCY:

At least once annually.

START DATE:

Year 2019. Position will be evaluated yearly.
